Looking - New Gay Dramady For HBO

Taking in the fact that the majority of HBO's programming has always had a healthy influx of gay characters, it now looks like the cable station is going to give us a dramady purely centring around three gay men in San Francisco called Looking and at least two of the leading actors have been cast.

First of all is Jonathan Groff. The actor best known for his roles in Starz drama, Boss (which was recently cancelled by the station) and of course the recurring role he had in the first three seasons of Glee was the first castmember to be revealed a few weeks ago. He will be playing Patrick, a gay man with a successful career as a video game developer.

The second leading character to be cast is Russell Tovey. the actor best known for his roles in Being Human and Him & Her. Tovey will be playing Kevin, a fellow video game wunderkid and best friend to Groff's character, Patrick. The eight part series will also feature Scott Bakula as Lynn, Frankie J. Alvarez as Agustín and Murray Bartlett as Dom. The series was created by Michael Lannan (based on his 2011 film, Lorimer) and will be executive produced by former Brothers & Sisters showrunner David Marshall Grant as well as Sarah Condon and Andrew Haigh. It's kind of overdue for HBO to try their hand at a gay centred dramady and with an excellent cast with Groff and Tovey, I can honestly say that I am definitely looking forward to see how this show fares when it airs next year. I also hope a UK broadcaster nabs it soon too.
