My Review of Harley Quinn: "The Mess Is The Point"

Harley: "So, you wanna go fuck shit up?"

Ivy: "You had me at one of the fuck."

Is it me or did that feel like a potential series finale? I mean if the show doesn't get renewed, it didn't end in a never to be resolved cliffhanger? Also, how much longer can this show keep going? Maybe one more season or maybe this is where it should end.

Getting back to the episode itself, Harley, Ivy, Sharon and Brainiac were trapped inside a bottle while Lex and Lena were getting along with Harley then ruining that by having thr pair turn on each other. To be fair, it didn't take much in that regard.

Anyways with some help from Frankette, bottle tipping and Sharon repeating the episode's title to Brainiac, Harley and company got free from the bottle as well as returned to their normal size. As for Lex and Lena, they got shrunk and ended up being eaten by Frankette but are still alive. Eventually, they're going to come out the other end, right?

Then there was Brainiac to contend with. He was kind of okay with letting his home planet collide with Earth and Bane's inability to lie almost sped up that decision on his part. A last minute change of heart meant that Brainiac sacrificed himself while Harley and company floated in space.

I'll admit, it did look pretty bad for Harley and company until Superman came at the last minute to save the day. Metropolis got restored, kids became friends and Harley and Ivy are now in a place where they might have more adventures on screen but will definitely be having plenty of them off screen for the rest of their lives.

- Lex and Lena wanting to name Metropolis after themselves really was the perfect way to get them to turn on each other.

- I got the impression that Gotham and Metropolis either merged or were placed beside each other. Frankette has inherited her father's potty mouth.

- Bane got his girlfriend pregnant and Goldilocks wanted to be Shawn's girlfriend. He didn't want that.

The Mess Is The Point really did feel like a series finale. I'd argue that it should be one as the show has had a good run for five seasons and DC's animated universe does feel like it's moving into a new era with this show still very much a part of the old regime. Saying that, if it gets renewed, I'll be back and I really liked this season.

My Review of Harley Quinn: "Bottle Episode (But Not A 'Bottle Episode')"

Lena (to Lex): "Fuck Metropolis. Harley's right."

Harley: "Exactly."

Lena: "Lex, we should work together."

Harley: "Say what now?"

Lena: "To take over the fucking universe."

There are times when maybe siblings shouldn't reconcile. This episode proved that point for Harley and Ivy. I get why they thought having Lex and Lena work through their issues would be a good idea but it wasn't.

Lena spent half the episode gloating over having a whole city bottled while sending out her automatons to find her brother. Not that Lena needn't had bother because Harley, Ivy and Sharon brought Lex on the ship for her instead.

Yup, Lena and Lex hashed out their siblings rivalry and banded together to shrink Harley, Ivy and Sharon and place them in the same bottle as Brainiac. The latter spent the episode being utterly despondent while Lex and Lena had aspirations to take over the world.

As for those in Metropolis, we got a good team with Bruce, Joker and Lois working together. First they helped Harley and company get the Batplane up to Brainiac's ship and then Lois had to use Morse code to contact Superman.

At the start of the season, Harley was the one who persuaded Superman to take a sabbatical and Bruce also decided to park Batman for a bit. The consequences of both their absences was felt along with Joker scoffing at Harley's chances of saving the day.

- Sharon might know some handy things but she didn't know that Superman and Kal El were the same person.

- Lex took an interest in Ivy's even redder hair during one particularly awkward moment.

- Clayface and Bane had their moments while Lois might have just gotten Perry's job. She was writing an article about male eating disorders in the superhero community.

- Chronology: From where the previous episode left off.

Bottle Episode (But Not A 'Bottle Episode') served as a good penultimate episode. The Lex/Lena scenes worked well along with the Bruce/Joker/Lois ones. Finale next week.

My Review of Harley Quinn: "Family Feud"

Ivy (to Harley): "Lena did it. The bitch actually bottled the city."

Yup, that's exactly what Lena Luthor did and can I just say that while appreciated the Supergirl show having a more conflicted but ultimately good version of the character, I love that this version embraced their villain. This version really isn't that different to her brother.

In fact, Lex was the reason why Lena descended the path she's currently on and when she wasn't turning Harley and Ivy against each other, Lena had the foresight to try and kill them. Of course she didn't succeed but she got close enough.

With Harley, this meant her own father was willing to betray her and have her cut up for parts. It didn't end well for Nick and it also meant that Harley's mother somewhat tagged along at the end of the episode, being somewhat helpful in getting Lex from prison.

As for Ivy, well she did have the bight idea to access a transporter to face Lena but between a heartbroken Bruce, a homicidal security bot named G.A.I.L. and the transporter destroyed, it didn't pan out. Lena won that round but Harley and Ivy did make up by the end of the episode.

Now, we've got Metropolis bottled up, two episodes left, Harley and Ivy with the former's mother and Lex. Will they be enough to stop Lena and her plan? They're going to have to be, aren't they?

- Using thumbs was Brainiac's way of expressing the middle finger. He didn't like it when Lena did it to him.

- Bruce and Lena 4ever was certainly a tacky password but fitting for this version of Bruce.

- Apart from one brief scene with Frankette, Harley and Ivy's other allies were nowhere to be seen here.

- Chronology: Took place from where the previous episode left off.

Family Feud might have had Harley and Ivy at odds for most of the episode but they did come back together at the very end. I did like their separate attempts of staying alive from Lena's attempts to have them killed.

My Review of Harley Quinn: "Frankette"

Harley (to Ivy): "Lena was the one who saved Metropolis."

Can I just say that I'm actually happy with this turn of events. I know we all love Katie McGrath's more sympathetic portrayal of the character in the CW Supergirl show but having a more villainous version of Lena Luthor works better for the show.

Having her actually be the one to kill Frank in order to get both Harley and Ivy to kill Brainiac was a good plan and it nearly worked. Instead, Brainiac got shrunk and bottled and Ivy learned about Lena being Frank's killer through footage on Brainiac's ship.

Also the heel turn Lena did was delightfully campy as well. She's owning the fact that she's the Big Bad of the season after all. She delighted in Brainiac being trapped, delighted in taking poor Frankette and definitely delighted in turning both Harley and Ivy against each other.

Speaking of Frankette, she was a parting gift from parts of both Frank and Ivy and the latter wouldn't let herself get attached to Frankette until those robots nearly killed the baby plant. Now Lena has Frankette so Harley and Ivy will have to work together to get back and stop Lena from ruling Metropolis altogether.

As for the rest of the episode, Bane got relegated to babysitting duties when he wasn't getting angry at Goldie's Dutch teacher and this show really wants to make Shawn the Shark into a bigger deal than needed. He's useful in this episode when he wasn't trying to eat Frankette.

- Brainiac was watching Clayface's performance on a loop with one particular performance getting his attention the most.

- Ivy talked to Frank in the Green and Frankette attacked a robot with her vines.

- Frank really did have a 500+ list of things just to lead into the arrival of Frankette.

- Chronology: Not long from where the previous episode left off.

Frankette served as a nice introduction for the title character while also proving just how delightfully evil this version of Lena can be as a character. Overall, pretty good.

My Review of Harley Quinn: "Bottle My Heart"

Brainiac (re Ivy): "She knows what it's like now."

The play's the thing. Except when it's attempts to warn Metropolis about an imminent alien invasion through Brainiac, The Tragedy Of: The Musical. It was an idea devised between Harley, Clayface and Bane. It didn't go well.

It could've been the hit and miss musical numbers, the lack of cooperation between the three leads, including Frank. It could also be that Brainiac's moment of harsh clarity about Koko saw him not react well to a pile of space monkey bones.

Killing Frank off was certainly a choice and one that devastated Ivy by the end of the episode. She couldn't even revive Frank, which Brainiac seemed indifferent towards. He wanted someone to experience his pain. He got that with Ivy. He'll likely regret that.

To think Lena's attempts to get back at Brainiac went horribly wrong throughout the episode. Even when she lied about the nature of her real involvement with Brainiac, her attempts of getting revenge on Brainiac went the opposite of what she intended. Lena doesn't quite have the villainy of her brother.

As for the rest of the episode, Harley confessed to murder but Lois was the one who ended up quitting The Daily Planet when she refused to write a retraction. Oh and Harley figured out that Perry was Clayface and used that to her advantage throughout the episode.

- Ivy can't act and Harley can't sing but the latter won an award for a non singing role in a production of The Sound Of Music. 

- Bruce getting Lena to get him hemorrhoid cream. Oh dear.

- Both Lois and Harley were having sex dreams about the skulls. Harley insulted Lois's neck and Lois said that Harley was 48.

- Chronology: Not long from the last episode. 

Bottle My Heart had some fun with the musical idea as Lena switched loyalties, Brainiac got a reality check, Frank died, Harley was a theatre nightmare and poor Ivy lost her creation. Overall, a good one.

My Review of Harley Quinn: "Big Pasta Dinner"

Harley (to everyone): "Maybe the butler did it."

By golly, I think she's got it. Actually, she would've but the thing that Harley hadn't factored was the lack of an actual dead body. It turned out that Alfred's party piece was faking his death.

It's an unusual one but for this episode we had Harley, Ivy, Frank, Shawn the Shark, Lois Lane, Joker, Sophia, Bruce and Damian all together in one apartment for dinner with plenty of tension brewing. Of course Alfred's little party piece had everyone chasing Harley for a bit. Then other stuff happened.

Remember last season when Dick Grayson was killed by a sleepwalking Harley and got resurrected by the Lazarus Pit? Yeah, it turned out that he wanted revenge and crashed the party as Red X. He got very close to killing Harley until Bruce giving a much needed apology to both Dick and Damian managed to quell Dick's homicidal tendencies.

That of course then left Alfred to reveal himself as the one responsible for Dick's resurrection and he also wanted to kill Harley, Ivy and Joker for the chaos they've created. He also had his issues with Bruce that a heartfelt apology wouldn't suffice.

Anyways, Alfred went nuts on the same venom that Bane used, tried to kill everyone until the mischievous Shawn saved the day. Then we had Lois offering Harley a job at the Daily Planet because like Harley, Lois too has been having nightmares of a giant skull. 

- Damian broke up with Raven off screen and then got together with Sophia by the end of the episode.

- I know this version of Bruce is meant to be widely inconsiderate but even I was surprised he didn't know Alfred's surname. Lena also refused to come to dinner.

- Frank worked out that he was 90 in human years while King Shark was dealing with an underwater rebellion. Oh and Harley really wanted that illegal showerhead.

- Chronology: Not long from the events of the previous episode.

Big Pasta Dinner had fun with it's murder mystery premise and the returns of both Dick Grayson/Red X and Alfred/the Macaroni certainly livened up the episode. Even with Brainiac's absence, at least some of his story moved along a bit.

My Review of Harley Quinn: "Breaking Brainiac"

Brainiac (to Coco): "I will never again have a home. I shall forever drift in the cosmos raging against imperfection."

Following the ending of last week's and the title for this one, the focus on Brainiac was by far the best thing the show could've done. This episode gave quite the origin story for the guy.

On Colu, Brainiac was certainly living up to his name, which for the most impressed his wife but it saw some conflict with his son. With his own world being 1% off perfect, Brainiac dismissed the need for concern. That would be something Brainiac would live to regret.

With his pet monkey, Koko for company, Brainiac found his world destroyed and his family killed. This gave him the mission to wipe out imperfection as he went along. If it meant taking cities like Kandor off the map, then Brainiac had no problem doing such a thing. Then Metropolis got his attention.

Yes, as the episode got into its final five minutes, Brainiac had to deal with both Harley and Ivy being openly hostile towards him. In fact had Lena Luthor not stepped in and revealed she was working with Brainiac (not a shocker), Harley might have been dead on the spot.

Instead Harley and Ivy had their memories wiped, got sent back to their apartment where they ate takeout and Lena wanted them to be more sociable in Metropolis. While Ivy seemed blissfully unaware of everything, there was a part of Harley that was trying to remember her encounter with Brainiac.

- Apparently Harley can lose herself for hours when scrolling through this show's version of Instagram.

- Lena seemed very adamant about Brainiac sparing Harley/Ivy in exchange for having Metropolis.

- Humans came in at 0.2%. It's no wonder Brainiac doesn't think so highly of us. Koko was also a pile of bones.

- Chronology: Colu, Space Sector 1287 for the start of the episode, setting up Brainiac's origin.

Breaking Brainiac was definitely a great origin episode for the character. The sympathetic villain backstory, maybe it's a bit cliched but it's well executed here and I'm intrigued but not surprised by Lena's team up with Brainiac.

My Review of Harley Quinn: "Floronic Man"

Floronic Man: "Goodbye my sweet Pamela."

After last week's episode, I had slightly hoped that the creation of Floronic Man would be something of a multi episode problem for both Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. Obviously this show had other ideas.

The episode started with Harley finding out about Ivy killing Jason Woodrue and making it a bit too much about herself. It even got to the point where Harley even interrupted one of Ivy's lectures, which was somewhat annoying.

Of course that was the least of Ivy's problems as once she was in the Green, she had to contend with her toxic ex yet again. Jason Woodrue was now Floronic Man and he was very much in the mood to kill Ivy. Had it not been for the intervention of both Harley and Frank, he definitely would've succeeded on that front.

Harley destroying Jason's body in the real world stopped him from killing both Ivy and Frank. Add a nice making up scene between Harley and Ivy and then the two of them ended up in Brainiac's ship because they're a bigger threat to him than a certain Kryptonian.

As for the B-plot, it was fun enough. Clayface took a bad review so badly that he kidnapped Perry White, impersonated him at the Daily Planet and hired Bane to be a theatre reviewer for the paper. He also unwisely ignored Lois's growing concern about Brainiac's ship in the sky. 

- Clayface really did get the struggling actor's apartment in Metropolis, huh? His depiction of Pearl Harbour was problematic.

- Harley walked into two different rooms with students having sex with each other before finding Woodrue.

- Frank eats Ivy's lipstick, even the discontinued one.

- Chronology: A few days after the previous episode.

For the most part, I did enjoy Floronic Man as an episode but I was a bit disappointed with how quickly he was taken out as a villain. On the other hand, it's nice that the Brainiac plot has taken off.

My Review of Harley Quinn: "Back To School"

Ivy (to Dr Woodrue): "It's Poison Ivy now!"

Well, it only took five seasons but hey, better late than never. If you were hoping the show would stick the landing with Poison Ivy's backstory, then this episode certainly delivered on that front.

Now that Ivy has decided to work for Lena Luthor, the latter introduced her to Dr Jason Woodrue. Truthfully, it's a reintroduction for Ivy and she's not happy with seeing her former boyfriend/mentor/would be killer. However, Ivy decided that revenge was the order of the day.

In flashbacks, we saw Ivy challenge Woodrue in classes while also being romantically involved with him. When she showed her prototype of combining human and plants via baby Frank, Jason wanted the credit. Ivy didn't want that and he tried to kill her, forcing Ivy to create herself so to speak.

Ivy's thirst for revenge led to her exacting the same fate to Jason that he did to her. By the end of the episode, she helped to create Floronic Man and just as bad, she didn't tell Harley about it either. I don't imagine it'll be too long before both Harley and Ivy realise that Floronic Man will be a problem for them.

As for Harley, she got suckered into babysitting King Shark's rambunctious children with one of them being a particular pest for her. Add in a birthday party for Bane's adopted daughter, Goldilocks, a fake Pippa Middleton and Vincent Edge and this plot wasn't as strong as the Ivy one but still entertaining nonetheless.

- Lena seems to be too accommodating towards Harley and Ivy's wave of destruction that she has to have an ulterior motive.

- In the comics, Vincent Edge was part of Intergang, so I guess we'll be seeing them fairly soon.

- It's a good job that I did watch Kite-Man: Hell Yeah! given the way this season has referenced events from that show.

- Chronology: Not long from where the first episode left off.

Back To School had its moments. The Ivy storyline was easily the best part of this one with some very real present day consequences while Harley's was suitably chaotic and pretty fun.

My Review of Harley Quinn: "The Big Apricot"

Harley (to Ivy): "We're going to the Big Apricot."

Well, it's been over a year since the events of the fourth season. In that time we had Kite-Man: Hell Yeah! and that was a show that nobody really watched. So, let's catch up.

Between seasons, it seems that the Batfamily have disbanded, Joker got impeached as Mayor and the Gotham City Sirens took on Enchantress and split as a group. Oh and Harley and Ivy got into a very dull rut with each other.

It looked like the rut could only be solved by taking the pair to Metropolis in order to shake up their relationship. This involved gatecrashing a party that was a museum to Superman and making friends with Lena Luthor. She's Bruce Wayne's new girlfriend and nothing like her now jailed brother.

Yes, despite Harley and Ivy causing disruption to Lena's party, it seemed like she was impressed with the pair. Even blood of Eclipso on her dress didn't deter her from tempting both Harley and Ivy to remain in Metropolis. Yup, they're sticking around and can Lena be trusted? I'm going to assume no.

As for Superman, he was in a bigger rut too. With Lex in prison and those automatons keeping the crime down, he felt redundant. At least he managed to get a nice conversation with Harley. That gave him some perspective on what to do next.

Oh and while Harley and Ivy are settling into Metropolis, there was Brainiac in the sky. Well, if the show was going to relocate to Metropolis this season, might as well have Brainiac as the big bad for the season too. I hope the show doesn't waste him.

- Riddler and Clock King have become one of those obnoxious type of couples. 

- Enchantress's necklace contained Eclipso, which Catwoman stole and Lena acquired.

- Lois got neck work done, we briefly saw Jimmy Olsen and Krypto and did this show skip past Nightwing wanting revenge on Harley?

- Chronology: Over a year since the events of the previous season.

The Big Apricot got this season off to a good start. The move to Metropolis does have potential but I'm kind of disappointed that they shelved the Gotham City Sirens story so quickly. I do hope they deliver with Brainiac, villain wise.

DCFanDome - Day 2 Highlights

Three weeks, DCFanDome basically dominated the internet and crashed a few times, site wise.  The latter happened yet again and while the hype on the second day wasn't quite the same as the first, we still got some interesting tidbits, concerning the TV shows and even the movies.

Superman & Lois: With filming due to start, we got a lovely panel with stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch and artist Jim Lee. Seeing them drawing the Superman symbol was lovely but in terms of spoilers, there wasn't too much revealed. Right now, there's a rumour of 15 episodes for the first season, we'll be getting a new suit for Superman, we know that the main villain will be The Stranger as played by Wole Parks and a potential love triangle with the Kent sons and Lana Lang's (Emmanuelle Chriqui) daughter. Other characters in the show will be General Sam Lane (Dylan Walsh), Martha Kent, Perry White, Morgan Edge and Ron Troupe. Also expect a crossover with Batwoman as well in the series.

Legends Of Tomorrow: Season 6 is due to film soon and we've finally got a casting information. Chicago PD alumni, Lisseth Chavez will join as a new regular, called Esperenza 'Spooner' Cruz to help the team hunt down extraterrestrials displaced in history. The show's take on aliens will be different to Supergirl while the second episode will focus on the Tarazi siblings, Sara won't be gone for long. Meanwhile Constantine and Astra will be living together with the latter also being a regular along with Behrad.

Supergirl: Not much was revealed here, though we did get to see both David Harewood (J'onn) and Nicole Maines (Nia) talking about representation. It does seem that filming will start sometime this month, even though it'll air later in 2021 compared to the other DC shows on the CW. I would also expect a reduced episode count.

Batwoman: I was hoping we'd get to see Javicia Leslie's look for Ryan Wilder's Batwoman but alas we did not. Now, the show has actually begun filming and joining Leslie for the show's second season will be Shivani Ghai, who will be playing the role of Safiyah Sohail who has a past connection to Alice (Rachel Skarsten). Another villain added to this season will be The Whisper, though the role has not been cast yet. I'm betting we'll get a glimpse of Ryan's Batwoman suit towards the end of the year. Other than that, I'm intrigued to see how this second season will play out.

The Flash: Now technically this show has finished as episodes intended for the sixth season are now part of the start for the upcoming seventh season. A trailer released showed the gang coming together to try and defeat Eva McCulloch's Mirror Master as Iris attempts to escape from her own prison. Showrunner Eric Wallace also confirmed that Barry will get his gold boots this upcoming season while Godspeed will also play a much bigger role than before. Stargirl: I'm still halfway through the first season but this panel with the main cast and creator Geoff Johns was an interesting watch. It seems that the second season will feature more of Solomon Grundy along with the Shade as a main villain.

Black Lightning: Robert Townsend spoke to the main cast on the upcoming fourth season, due to begin filming as well this month in Atlanta and it was a nice enough panel but nothing revealing as such. Various cast members talked about things they'd like for their characters like Gambi getting a girlfriend or Tobias doing good through politics but in terms of spoilers, there was nothing to be revealed here.

Titans: Filming is due to start with the third season and as you can see from the pic above, Donna Troy (Conor Leslie) will be back from the dead. Of course, it won't be just Donna's return to look forward to as we've got both Blackfire (Damaris Lewis) and Red Hood (Curran Walters) as main villains, a heavy focus into Gotham, the arrival of Barbara Gordon, Roy Harper and a character named Danny (largely suspected to be Tim Drake from the character description) as well as the Scarecrow and Lex Luthor, casting for both to be confirmed. The upcoming season will also move to HBO Max.

Doom Patrol: Not too much revealed here, except that the show has officially been renewed for a third season and will air exclusively on HBO Max in 2021. The finale originally intended for the second season will now be the third season premiere, but we already knew that.

Pennyworth: With Epix set to air the second season of this other Batman prequel series later in the year, we did get the interesting news that Martha Kane (Emma Paetz) will be pregnant while Alfred (Jack Bannon) is desperate to get out of London. New additions to the season include James Purefoy, Edward Hogg and Jessye Romeo.

Lucifer: The sixth and final season of this show will comprise of 10 episodes, due to begin filming later this month. A clip was released of the cast singing Another One Bites The Dust while Netflix will release the second half of the fifth season later in the year. Elsewhere HBO Max have yet to confirm if they will pick up a third season of Harley Quinn though I suspect they will while the fourth season of Young Justice will be titled, Phantoms. On a disappointing note there was no new information on any of the upcoming HBO Max DC shows, so looks like we'll be waiting a bit longer on that front. Meanwhile the official title for a certain upcoming four part HBO Max miniseries will be Justice League: Director's Cut.

As for the movie side of things, well the first day mainly focused on that but there was some new bits to emerge over the last few days nonetheless.

• Wonder Woman 1984 is moving yet again, this time it seems to give Tenet some more breathing space at the cinemas. It's new (and hopefully final) release day is December 25th 2020.
• The Batman had start filming, then had to stop when Robert Pattinson himself got COVID. Filming is rumoured to resume later this week as Pattinson is on the mend. Meanwhile we got a nice new poster and the trailer has amassed over 22 million views on YouTube since it's release.
• The Flash movie will "restart everything and forget nothing" according to producer Barbara Muschietti. More casting has yet to be revealed but expect many DC characters in it. 
• Black Adam and Shazam! Fury Of The Gods are due to begin filming in early 2021.

Well, that covers just about everything for DCFanDome. It's been an interesting two days and technical issues to one side, overall, I would say this has been a success. What have been your highlights over the two days and do you think this will be a yearly thing for DC?

SCDD 2019 - DC TV Spoilers

Unlike the MCU, the DCEU sadly sat out SDCC this year (but I have no doubt they'll come back swinging next year though). However in terms of the television medium, most of the big players came out and we got some great spoilers.

Delving into the Arrowverse first though ....

Trailers for Arrow (October 15th), The Flash (October 8th), Supergirl (October 6th) and Black Lightning (October 21st) were all unveiled over the weekend and there are some interesting spoilers to behold. Batwoman (October 6th) and Legends Of Tomorrow (January 31st 2020) didn't get trailers but still had a presence at San Diego during the weekend. Things we can expect from the shows are ....

- Charlie Barnett will be a regular as the older version of JJ for the final season of Arrow as well as Ben Lewis (William), Katherine McNamara (Mia) and Joseph David-Jones (Connor).
- Both Oliver and Laurel will have new suits.
- Katie Cassidy-Rogers, David Ramsay, Caity Lotz, Danielle Panabaker, Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh and David Harewood will be directing episodes of their respective shows.
- Brandon Routh will be playing the Kingdom Come version of Superman for the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover event while Tyler Hoechlin will be back as Superman, Bitsie Tulloch as Lois Lane and Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor.
- There's also rumours that both Tom Welling and Lynda Carter will play roles in the upcoming crossover as well.
- The Flash's main antagonist for the first half of it's sixth season will be Bloodwork, played by Sendhil Ramamurthy. The character will have a connection to both Barry and Caitlin.
- Keiynan Lonsdale will be returning as Wally West, Sue Dibney will debut this season, Killer Frost will have more to do, Tom Cavanagh will play another Wells as well as Pariah, Iris will delve more into her journalism and Cisco will be staying put.
- The Monitor will be popping up on various shows leading to the crossover event.

- Also appearing in the upcoming Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover event will be Batman 66 actor, Burt Ward in an undisclosed role.
- Supergirl will be saying goodbye to Mehcad Brook's Jimmy Olsen but it seems that Jeremy Jordon will be reappearing as Winn for a few episodes while Andrea Brooks will be a regular as Eve.
- Other additions to the fifth season will be Meaghan Rath as a female Brainiac 5, Staz Nair as journalist William Dey and Julie Gonzolo as Andrea Rojas/Acrata.
- Expect more relationship plots with Brainiac 5/Nia and Alex/Kelly as well as a battle for Lena's soul.
- Legends Of Tomorrow will see Sara getting a superpower, origin episodes for Constantine and Charlie, Astra as the main baddie, Ava on the Waverider and some of the worst people in history causing hassle for our motley crew.
- Batwoman will feature some of the Dark Knight's own rogue gallery members, including Hush for an upcoming episode while the first season itself is largely based on the Elegy arc.

And moving onto the DC Universe side of things ....

Titans second season is coming pretty soon. In fact, you can mark September 6th as the date the show returns for it's second season and it's cast is going to be pretty large this season. Not only are Brenton Thwaites (Robin 1), Anna Diop (Starfire), Teagan Croft (Raven) and Ryan Potter (Beast Boy) are back but regular wise, they'll be joined by Curran Walters (Robin 2), Alan Ritchson (Hawk), Minka Kelly (Dove), Conor Leslie (Donna Troy), Joshua Orpin (Superboy) as well. In recurring and guest roles will be Esai Morales (Deathstroke), Iain Glen (Bruce Wayne), Chella Man (Jericho), Chelsea Zhang (Ravager), Natalie Gumede (Mercy Graves) and Drew Van Acker (Aqualad), so this upcoming season is definitely going to be more eventful than the first one.

Keeping with the good news - Doom Patrol has also been confirmed for a second season and will air on both DCUniverse and HBO Max respectively. On the other hand though, Swamp Thing still seems to be cancelled and we got nothing new on Stargirl as of yet.

As for some animated content, you'll be delighted to know that Young Justice has been renewed for a fourth season while we finally got a trailer for the new Harley Quinn series, starring Kaley Cuoco in the title role and it's definitely going for the Deadpool approach. It looks gloriously daft as Harley schemes to become a member of the Legion of Doom after rejecting the Joker (Alan Tudyk), teaming up with Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) and occasionally being a pain in Batman's (Diedrich Bader) behind. Expect appearances from various DC characters across the board and plenty of swearing and violence in the series, slated to air on DC Universe from October 2019.

Meanwhile members who attended San Diego over the weekend were treated to pilot episode screenings of both Batwoman and Pennyworth (July 28th) and while the former show generated some rather mixed to dicey reviews, it seems that the latter series, focusing on Jack Bannon's younger Alfred Pennyworth was seen in a more favourable light. The pilot episode for Pennyworth is free to watch online now and I'll probably give it a go later in the week. It's unlikely that I'll be reviewing the show episodically, though it'll be covered on this blog in some capacity over the next few months though. HBO also made an impression with their recent trailer for Watchmen (October 2019), which aired during the weekend.
