My Review of DC League Of Super-Pets (2022)

Written by Jared Stern And John Whittington
Directed by Jared Stern

Krypto: "Super-Pets, activate!"

Yeah, I put this one off for a bit. I intended to get to it at some point and then yesterday evening, actually sat down and watched it. On paper, it's actually a perfect story to get a very young audience into DC. I mean, who wouldn't want a pet with super powers?

The pet in question being Krypto the Super Dog (Dwayne Johnson). He's best friends with Superman (John Krasinski) but not entirely happy with his best mate getting closer to Lois Lane (Olivia Wilde). This does cause some friction between the pair and they had just stopped Lex Luthor (Mark Maron) from using orange Kryptonite along with the Justice League.

However while Lex's schemes with orange Kryptonite didn't work, someone who managed to succeed with it was a guinea pig named Lulu (Kate McKinnon). I kid you not. It turned out that orange Kryptonite actually gives pets super powers. Unfortunately for Krypto, not only did he lose his powers but Lulu took all the Justice League prisoner and had maniacal schemes that would even upstage Lex himself.

On the the other hand, Lulu wasn't the only super powered pet on the scene. A blind turtle named Merton (Natasha Lyonne) gained superspeed while a paranoid squirrel named Chip (Diego Luna) gained electricity, a potbellied pig named PB (Vanessa Bayer) could manipulate their size and a scrappy Boxer mix named Ace (Kevin Hart) also got super strength and invulnerability. Would they be enough to stand up against the scheming Lulu?

Well, they were certainly going to try to be the best team they could be with both Krypto and Ace developing a fun rivalry that turned into a nice friendship as the movie progressed. In fact the whole Super-Pets uniting in wanting to save the day served as a nice contrast for Lulu having nearly everything going wrong for her.

Her own team, which included fellow guinea pigs Keith (Thomas Middleditch) and Mark (Ben Schwartz) werent quite as solid, she got betrayed by Lex himself and defeated by Krypto's act of self sacrifice. As a villain, Lulu was perfect for this sort of movie and of course, while she might have been defeated, she wasn't entirely out of the equation.

As for the Justice League themselves, well, they did need rescuing by the Super-Pets but they also became owners. Batman (Keanu Reeves) took on Ace, Wonder Woman (Jameela Jamil) took PB, The Flash (John Early) got Merton, Jessica Cruz (Dascha Polanco) got Chip while the fire and water Mark and Keith went to Cyborg (Daveed Diggs) and Aquaman (Jermaine Clement). Basically, everyone got their perfect pet and owner.

- Mid credit scene saw a defeated Lulu being adopted by Mercy Graves (Maya Erskine). Mercy was mostly done with Lex in the movie.
- Post credit scene had Superman and Krypto meet up with Black Adam and Anubis, both of whom were voiced by Dwayne Johnson.
- There are a lot of references to both Superman: The Movie (1978) and Batman (1989).
- Villains really do love putting The Flash into a hamster wheel, don't they?
- Standout music: Taylor Swift's Bad Blood and Message In A Bottle (Taylor's Version) as well as Queen's You're My Best Friend and Burt Bacharach's What The World Needs Now Is Love.
- Chronology: Present Day Metropolis. Oh and Krypton flashbacks at the start.

I should've watched DC League Of Super-Pets earlier because this was such an enjoyable movie. The pets were cute (even Lulu at her worst) and the jokes were genuinely funny in parts. A nice batch of Easter Eggs for DC fans and this one's definitely a strong crowd pleaser.

DCEU Blog - DC Studios Logo Revealed Along With Superman's Fate And So Much More

Well, this has certainly been an eventful year for DC and this last month alone really ramped up the chaos even more. What a way to end 2022 for DC.

Let's kick off things lightly with the reveal of the DC Studios logo. Notice the characters on it. Needless to say, they're going to be the main focus moving forward with DC.

Speaking of the Trinity, let's break some stuff down for a bit. For now, both James Gunn and Matt Reeves have confirmed The Batman will remain in it's own universe. Assuming this remains true, then they're going to have two live action versions of the Dark Knight on the big screen.

Patty Jenkins third Wonder Woman movie will not go ahead but the Amazonian remains a priority for DC and Gal Gadot's fate has to be confirmed beyond her cameo appearances in both Shazam! Fury Of The Gods and The Flash.

As for Superman, it appears that James Gunn has written a script for the next movie, focusing on a younger version of the character and while it won't be an origin story, it does mean one thing.

Henry Cavill is officially out as Superman after filming cameos for both Black Adam and The Flash, with rumours that his scenes from the latter have been removed.

The Flash meanwhile will now get released on June 16th, moving up a week from it's previous release date.

Blue Beetle had a nice poster released at CCXP as well as a tagline talking about the movie being the beginning of things.

Black Adam managed 1.2 million during it's first weekend on HBO Max but Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that he will not be coming back as part of James Gunn's future DC plans.

Joker: Folie A Deux began filming this month but fans of Lady Gaga will have to wait until next year for her to start working on the sequel.

Both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton's Batman scenes have been removed from Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom. Yup, they're both gone for good after The Flash movie.

James Gunn has admitted that he will be revealing some upcoming projects next month while Zachary Levi publicly appealed to fans to trust both James Gunn and Peter Safran in an Instagram live last week.

The script for The Batman is now officially available online to read. Here's hoping we get some sequel news next year.

Nicole Maines will reprise her role as Nia Nal/Dreamer in the ninth season of The Flash, due to air on the CW from February 8th 2023.

The CW will also air upcoming seasons of both Superman And Lois and Gotham Knights from March 14th 2023.

The fourth season of Harley Quinn will stream on HBO Max in 2023 with a Valentine's Day special due for release in February.

Both The Penguin and the second season of Peacemaker will film in 2023 for HBO Max while James Gunn has confirmed that the Green Lantern series will still go ahead.

Well, this month was a chaotic ending to what has been a very chaotic year for DC in general. Imagine what 2023 will be like when James Gunn's vision for the DCU will be unveiled? Expect a lot of fireworks.

DCEU Blog - DC Studios Gets It's Leaders, The Flash Meets Red Death And More

October certainly didn't disappoint with some major DC updates unveiled. As usual, it's an exciting and volatile time to be a DC fan, depending on whatever news hits first.

The biggest news item would be that DC Studios finally has it's head guys. Step up, both James Gunn and Peter Safran. The former will tackle the creative side while the latter will tackle the business side.

Both men will work with various creatives and characters being prioritized include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Harley Quinn.

Rumoured projects include a sequel for The Flash movie to be written by Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom scribe David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.

Bruna Marquezine has confirmed her Blue Beetle character is named Jenny, though other places have said she was called Penny in the movie.

Not only did Henry Cavill finally reprise his Superman role in Black Adam but he also stepped away from The Witcher and a sequel to Man Of Steel is in development. He's really back guys.

As for fans of The Batman, the sequel likely won't hit theatres until 2025 but not only will The Penguin HBO Max series start filming next year but the Arkham show has announced Antonio Campos as it's showrunner.

Joker: Folie A Deux has added Harry Lawtey to it's ever growing cast. Filming begins in November for the sequel to the 2019 mega hit.

It seems for now that the Zatanna film has been scrapped. Yup, don't expect anything to emerge from JJ Abrams WB contract.

The first half to the fourth season of Titans will premiere on HBO Max from November 3rd. Expect the second half in 2023.

The first half of the fourth season of Doom Patrol will premiere on HBO Max from December 8th. Expect the second half in 2023.

Jeremy Irvine and Finn Wittrock have been released from their contracts from the Green Lantern series as has the showrunner. The show will now be redeveloped to focus on John Stewart.

The ninth season of The Flash will see Javicia Leslie appear as Red Death. Meanwhile Jon Cor's Chillblaine will be a regular and Richard Harmon will appear as the Owen Mercer version of Captain Boomerang.

Filming for the first seasons of both Gotham Knights and Dead Boy Detectives has taken place. Expect some more news on both shows fairly soon.

Patty Jenkins has confirmed that the script for the third Wonder Woman movie has been completed.

That wraps up the big stories for this month. Let's see what the next one brings.

My Review of Black Adam (2022)

Written by Adam Sztykiel And Rory Haines And Sohrab Noshirvani
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra

Teth-Adam: "Some men are not meant to be heroes."

True, because some end up being villains and others operate on that middle ground of anti-hero. In terms of comics, Black Adam has been both a popular villain of Shazam (perhaps one of his most definitive) and as of late, more of anti-hero. Hell, even in the last year alone the character has been a member of the Justice League and you don't have to be a genius to see that's a future aspiration for Dwayne Johnson.

Kicking off this movie we got a flashback to 2600 BC in Kahndaq where a young boy named Hurut (Jalon Christian) finds himself becoming the people's champion (Uli Latukefu) against an oppressive ruler who wanted to use the Crown of Sabbac to have total dominion. Needless to say, the king is killed, the champion is killed, revenge was had and someone spent 5000 years in a magical prison as a result.

Present day, Kahndaq has been occupied by Intergang and archaeologist Adrianna Tomaz (Sarah Shahi) wants to get the Crown of Sabbac away from power hungry psychos, little knowing that her teammate Ishmael Gregor (Marwan Kenzari) had his own sinister designs for the crown. Anyways, she ended up nearly getting killed by Intergang and as a result Teth-Adam (Dwayne Johnson) awoke from his slumber and wasted very little time in adding a lot of dead bodies in his path.

Teth-Adam's arrival in the current state of Kahndaq certainly raised heavy debate. The citizens were quick to embrace him. Adrianna embraced him and her superhero obsessed teenage son, Amon (Bodhi Sabongui) shamelessly idolised Teth-Adam to the point of trying to get the anti-hero in the lore of using catchphrases as well as repeatedly putting himself in danger. Sometimes a little can go a long way and Amon could've done with a little less screen time than he got here.

On the other hand, not everyone was thrilled with Teth-Adam's return. Notably Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) who despite currently lacking a Task Force X decided to rope in the Justice Society in order to deal with Teth-Adam. A slightly scaled back version including seasoned pros such as Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) and Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) along with the newbies, Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell).

The pros and cons of the Justice Society would be that all the characters make a solid impression, look absolutely fantastic, are willing to work with Teth-Adam, Adrianna and Amon when the chips are down and you want to see more of them in any kind of follow up. The con on the other hand would be that they're not hugely developed as characters, Hawkman repeatedly had his ass handed to him and a sacrifice that Doctor Fate made for the greater good doesn't have quite the emotional impact it was aiming for and felt easily avoidable.

Then there's the actual villain of the piece. Marwan Kenzari doesn't pull off villains very well and here, Ishmael who resorted to extreme tactics in order to become Sabbac simply doesn't cut it as a baddie. I mean he looked fantastic and there was some decent effects with his fire but he's introduced too late in the game and was taken out almost abruptly as well. Without a doubt, definitely one of the weakest villains we've had in the DCEU.

As for Teth-Adam, there are some unnecessary changes to the character's backstory I'm surprised even Dwayne Johnson went along with. Also for a guy who constantly went on about not being a hero, you never get the sense that he'd threaten an innocent person either. The status of him right now as Protector of Kahndaq is an interesting proposition but will it be enough to sate the character and Johnson's own long term goals for the DCEU?

- The mid credit sequence featured the long anticipated return of Henry Cavill's Superman, along with his classic suit and a hint of John Williams classic score.
- We saw Djimon Hounsou in flashbacks with the Council of Wizards as well as the return of Jennifer Holland's Emilia Harcourt.
- Henry Winkler made a brief cameo as the original Atom Smasher, Al Pratt. The current one is his nephew, Albert Rothstein.
- This movie had both nth metal and eternium as major properties that could be moaned for good and evil purposes. The latter used for Sabbac's crown,
- Standout music: Nice use of Paint It Black.
- Chronology: Safe to assume, it's set after the events of Peacemaker.

Black Adam might not be quite the disaster area that some critics have been a bit too quick to label it but at the same time, it's also not the game changer for the DCEU that Dwayne Johnson desperately wanted it to be either. If I'm being honest, it's easily one of the weaker entries in this franchise and a movie that felt like the sum of it's parts to boot. Keep your expectations moderate and you won't be too disappointed.

DCEU Blog - Constantine Sequel A Go, Joker Sequel Adds To Cast And Black Adam Is Imminent

Well, it's been another fun, messy and chaotic time to be a DC fan. Here's a rundown of what's gone down over the last month.

In news that absolutely no one saw coming, Keanu Reeves will reprise his role in a yet to be dated sequel to the 2005 movie Constantine movie with Akiva Goldsmith penning the script, Francis Lawrence directing and JJ Abrams producing with Bad Robot.

As for the HBO Max series, both that and Madame Xanadu are being shopped around. I wouldn't hold your breath on either of them getting picked up tbh.

Blue Beetle has apparently had it's first test screening, though no major spoilers have leaked aside from a rumoured runtime of two hours and forty five minutes, though I imagine that will be shortened.

In news that also won't shock anyone but there's no DCFanDome this year though we might get some DC related content at next month's NYCC.

Henry Cavill is yet again getting heavily rumoured to be appearing in both Black Adam and The Flash. Take it with a serious grain of salt.

Leslie Grace has leaked a few clips of filming for Batgirl on her social media accounts. Unfortunately the film will not get a release due to the tax write off.

James Gunn has recently confirmed the second season of Peacemaker will start filming in the next few months.

Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Jacob Lofland have all signed on in undisclosed roles for Joker: Folie A Deux.

Shazam! Fury Of The Gods will feature director David F. Sandberg's wife Lotta Losten as a new character given that her previous one died in the first movie.

Jason Momoa has hinted at more than one version of Batman for Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom. Both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck did film scenes for the movie.

Michael Bishop will replace Jordan Elsass as Jonathan Kent in the third season of Superman And Lois, which has begun filming. Chad L. Coleman has been cast as Bruno Mannheim.

Pennyworth: The Origins Of Batman's Butler premieres on HBO Max from October 6th. The fourth seasons of Titans and Doom Patrol will premiere in November and December respectively. Exact dates to be confirmed.

Brec Bassinger will appear as Stargirl in a crossover with Titans while Titus Welliver has been cast as Lex Luthor for the series.

Richard Harmon has been cast as the Owen Mercer version of Captain Boomerang for the upcoming ninth season of The Flash.

Well, this ends another month of DC content. Let's see what next month brings.

DCEU Blog: SDCC Edition Of Sorts, Batfleck Returns, Trailers And Test Screenings Galore

Well, this has been a busy month with two animated movies currently released (DC's League Of Super Pets and Green Lantern: Beware My Power), the return of San Diego Comic Con and a lot of other stuff to power through, so let's go ....

Possibly the biggest new item was Jason Momoa revealing that Ben Affleck will be appearing in Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom instead of Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Michael Keaton however will be Batman in both The Flash and Batgirl.

Speaking of The Flash, test screening have revealed that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will appear in the movie as well as archived footage of Adam West, Lynda Carter, Christopher Reeve and Helen Slater. Expect to see another version of Superman in the movie as well.

Brendan Fraser revealed that his version of Firefly in Batgirl will be called Ted Carson and he wants to see Gotham burn as he's a veteran who has lost his benefits.

Shazam! Fury Of The Gods unveiled their first trailer at Comic Con and revealed that Rachel Zegler's character is called Anthea.

Rizwan Manji also appears in the movie, possibly playing a different character from the role of Jamal from Peacemaker.

Blue Beetle has finished filming. It'll be released on August 18th 2023 in theatres.

Dwayne Johnson took to the stage of SDCC dressed as Black Adam, unveiling a second trailer for the movie.

Although she didn't appear in the trailer, Viola Davis has officially been confirmed to return in the upcoming movie as Amanda Waller. A version of Superman has also been rumoured for the movie.

There are rumblings for potential castings for both the Black Canary and Zatanna movies but I want to hold off talking on it until confirmation comes for them.

Matt Ryan will reprise his role as John Constantine in animated form again as he will be appearing in the third season of Harley Quinn.

Teen Titans Go will feature Zack Snyder in an upcoming episode.

The upcoming third season of Stargirl will air on the CW from August 31st. It'll have thirteen episodes and go under the subtitle of Frenemies.

Colin Farrell has confirmed that filming for The Penguin HBO Max series will start early next year while also talking about Matt Reeves working on the script for The Batman sequel.

And that's it for this month. Be sure to check out The Sandman on Netflix from August 5th.

Okay this blog definitely has plenty to mull over with the first item of business being somewhat more serious than usual for here.

At this point anyone reading this blog will be aware of the current situation with Ezra Miller (which seems to be getting worse), but what will it mean for The Flash? Truthfully no one seems to now but there are rumours that the WB will be dropping Miller from future projects.

According to more test screenings (take with a pinch of salt), Michael Keaton's Batman will also be appearing in Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom.

Rachel Zegler's character in Shazam! Fury Of The Gods is called Anne.

Netflix have released a first trailer for The Sandman, due for release on August 5th. The series will have ten episodes. Mark Hamill will voice Merv Pumpkinhead.

The animated movie, Green Lantern: Beware My Power will be released from July 26th.

The CW have released a trailer for the third season of Stargirl but have yet to confirm an air date for the returning series.

The third season of Harley Quinn will premiere on HBO Max from July 28th and will be ten episodes. Expect appearances from Amanda Waller, Swamp Thing, Nightwing, Constantine, Firefly and James Gunn to name a few.

The upcoming fourth season of Doom Patrol will contain twelve episodes. Release date yet to be confirmed.

Candice Patton has confirmed that she will be continuing her role as Iris West-Allen for the ninth season of The Flash.

That's everything for this month. Let's see what the next one brings in terms of DC content.

DCFanDome 2021 - Highlights

It's been a year and after setting records back in August 2020, DCFanDome came back fir a second round, shorter time and streamed on multiple platforms to deliver some of the biggest news items  and it certainly delivered alright. Here are the highlights.

The Batman (4/3/2022) might have been the last event of the evening but it was once again, the biggest hit of the bunch. The second trailer gave us more context for the movie's central plot between the Caped Crusader (Robert Pattinson) and the Riddler (Paul Dano) while also giving us more stuff with Penguin (Colin Farrell) and Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz). There's no denying that Matt Reeves has a future classic in his hands with this hotly anticipated movie.

Meanwhile Patty Jenkins confirmed once again that she will be directing the third Wonder Woman movie and Lynda Carter will reprise her role as Asteria in it.

The Flash (4/11/2022) also made something of a splash too as director Andy Muschietti unveiled some footage from the movie. The footage revealed a better look of the title character's new suit, the possible demise of the Justice League, glimpses of Sasha Calle's Supergirl and Michael Keaton's Batman along with two versions of Barry for the price of one. It looks very promising so far.

Elsewhere, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom (16/12/2022) unveiled some concept art as well as the look of the new suit for Black Manta. Director James Wan also talked about the story being more of a globetrotting adventure, promising a much bigger scale for the aquatic hero.

As for Black Adam (29/7/2022), it got this event off to a good start. Dwayne Johnson certainly made his presence known and gave viewers a glimpse of the opening scene. Put it this way, you don't want to mess with this particular antihero. We also got a look at the symbols for Cyclone, Atom Smasher, Doctor Fate and Hawkman.

Meanwhile Shazam!: Fury Of The Gods (2/6/2023) also gave us glorious first looks of the Shazam family in action, Rachel Zegler's unnamed character as well as Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as villains Hespera and Kalypso. The movie also promised a bigger scale compared to the first one and it's definitely embracing the Greek mythology in a huge way.

As for Batgirl and Blue Beetle, sadly no release dates for these movies were announced and aside from some concept art for both, nothing too shocking was revealed here. The former movie will feature a Batman (yet to be confirmed which one though) while the latter will also factor Kord Industries and will likely Ted Kord as a mentor to Jaime Reyes.

On the animated movie and TV/streaming front, Catwoman: Hunted (18/2/2022) and DC's Super Pets (20/5/2022) were highlighted while Battle Of The Super Sons was revealed for a 2022 release. HBO Max also did a sizzle reel for the third season of Harley Quinn (another 2022 release) and released the first two episodes of the fourth season of Young Justice. Meanwhile it was confirmed that Batman: Caped Crusader and My Adventures With Superman would air in 2023.

Gamers also got to see new trailers for both Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, both slated for 2022.

HBO Max are going all in with DC content. They showed a first trailer for Peacemaker (13/1/2022), renewed both Titans and Doom Patrol for fourth seasons and even managed to snatch Pennyworth away from Epix and gave the show a third season, due to be released in 2022 as well as promo pics of limited series, DMZ. Netflix on the other hand did some behind the scenes feature on Sweet Tooth and released a poster of Gwendoline Christie's Lucifer for The Sandman.

As for the CW, both Smallville and Supergirl received panels, we got sneak previews of upcoming stuff concerning The Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Stargirl and Naomi as well as a set tour with cast members from Superman And Lois.

Last but not least, Superman now has the phrase - truth, justice and a better tomorrow. Personally, I like it.

All in all, a pretty strong second year for DCFanDome. The shorter time and multiple platforms to watch the event was a good way to improve on the first year. I'll definitely be watching again next year. What was your highlight from this year? Mine was The Batman of course.

DCEU News: Flash/Black Adam Begin Filming, DCFanDome Returns

A slightly slower month compared to the last two but at the same time, there's some interesting developments in the DC Universe.

The Flash (November 4th 2022) after years of development hell has finally began filming in the UK and while no further casting has been revealed yet, director Andy Muschietti has revealed the logo for the upcoming movie with Ezra Miller in the title role.

DCEU News: Snyder Cut Approaches, A Kryptonian Reboot And More

It has been an extremely busy month for DC fans with the imminent arrival of a certain movie, discussion on upcoming streaming shows and certain movies that are entering production. Shall we?

Zack Snyder's Justice League will be streaming on HBO Max as well as getting international releases from March 18th and the movie will clock in at four hours and two minutes with some timed chapters to allow people for breaks. At this rate, you've seen all the trailers, read various interviews with Snyder himself and probably have guessed the cliff hanger ending, so there's not much else left to discuss until the movie's release.

Meanwhile The Flash still scheduled for November 4th 2022 for now has finally added another cast member to the list. The Young And The Restless star Sasha Calle will be taking on the role of Supergirl for the Multiverse themed movie. Other cast members are Ezra Miller, Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton and Billy Crudup but with filming scheduled for the end of April, expect more casting news pretty soon.

Arguably the biggest news reveal and  one that's proving to be a mixed bag with fans so far was the announcement of the inevitable Superman reboot, which will not see Henry Cavill return in the title role but instead cast a black actor, possibly taking on the Val Zod or Calvin Ellis version of the character. This reboot will be produced by JJ Abrams and written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, who has previously written for Marvel titles such as Black Panther and Captain America.

Black Adam might still be looking for a new release date at the moment but it does at least have another cast member with Jafar himself, Marwan Kenzari added in an undisclosed role (though it was rumoured he would be playing the villain, Sabbac a few months ago). Casting has yet to be announced for Doctor Fate, Red Tornado and Osiris and filming is slated to start in April.

Meanwhile Shazam!: Fury Of The Gods has cast West Side Story actor Rachel Zegler in an undisclosed role and while other details have yet to be revealed about the sequel for the 2019 movie, we do know that filming is meant to be starting in May and that the movie is slated for a June 2nd 2023 release.

Another future movie we can add to the pile for the DCEU will be Blue Beetle, which will focus on the Jaime Reyes version of the character and will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer with Zev Foreman as an executive producer. Filming is slated for Autumn 2021 but no release has been given yet, though casting for the title role should be coming soon.

On the HBO Max streaming front, writer Guy Bolton will be bringing John Constantine to the platform in a series that will be produced by JJ Abrams, will cast a 20 something BIPOC actor in the title and focus more on the horror aspect than religious ones. Elsewhere casting for the Green Lantern series is on the way as filming is set to happen in April, there's a really hideous first look still for the upcoming Aquaman: King Of Atlantis series and Peacemaker will debut from January 2022 and has added  Nhut Le as Judomaster to the cast.

That's a lot of news this month. What are you looking forward most or least, DC wise?
