Doctor Who - Series 7 Updates/Sad News

Well,  if making a splash at Comic-Con wasn't enough, the Doctor has only gone and made the cover of Entertainment Weekly, further cementing it's impact on American viewers. Gorgeous cover ...

As for Series 7, it might be only a month away but the latest issue of DWM (it's 450th issue) has some spoilers available. Episode wise, not only are the first five filmed/photo locked but episodes 9-11 have also been filmed with the Christmas special due to be filmed next month as well. The magazine seems to have confirmed that Moffat will write episodes 7 and 14 but writers for 8, 12 and 13 have yet to be confirmed. There's also an interview with Chris Chibnall (Dinosaurs On A Spaceship and 7x04) discussing the various guests in his episode, including Mark Williams as Rory's father, Brian. He was also meant to write an episode in the second half of the series but couldn't due to his upcoming series, Broadchurch with David Tennant and Arthur Darvill.

Meanwhile Matt Smith has been referring to Jenna-Louise Coleman's character, Clara (name still not confirmed, but was heard on set last month) as being somewhat different to Amy. In fact, while her debut has yet to be filmed, apparently there's a line of dialogue she says ("Wake up! Open the thing!") in an upcoming episode but aside from that little bit (Matt also mentioned flirting - really?), we still don't know that much about her. He does however seemed to have confirmed that we won't be getting an eighth series until 2014, in which Moffat has supposedly teased Matt to get ready to cry. Oh and there are some interesting times for Amy and Rory in the final few episodes with the fourth episode being all about them before their last adventure.

Meanwhile in rather sad news, actress Mary Tamm (Romana 1) has sadly passed away at the age of 62, following an 18 month battle with cancer, according to her agent. Absolutely shocked to hear this - such a young age and she recently had done some Big Finish audios with Tom Baker as well. My condolences go out to her family and friends. This is the fourth companion who has sadly passed away in the last eighteen months. She will be missed by all.
